کتاب مرجع کودکان نلسون با عنوان اصلی Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics 19th 2011 کتاب رفرنس پزشکی و پرستاری در خصوص بیماریهای اطفال است که بصورت کتاب الکترونیک (E-Book) و به زبان انگلیسی منتشر و در اختیار دانشجویان و اساتید رشته های پزشکی و پیراپزشکی قرار گرفته است.

چاپ نوزدهم و آخر این کتاب از طرف انتشارات Elsevier در سال ۲۰۱۱ منتشر و بصورت دوره ای به روز می گردد. این کتاب بصورت متن کامل و دارای تصاویر رنگی  بوده و از قابلیت جستجوی کلمات  و پرینت صفحات برخوردار است. در اینجا به قسمتی از مقدمه این کتاب و مهمترین تغییرات چاپ نوزدهم اشاره می گردد:

Preface

The publication of the 19th edition of Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics combines an important synthesis of clinical pediatrics with the major advances in genomics, diagnosis, imaging, and therapeutics. The 19th edition continues to represent the “state of the art” on the care of the normal and ill neonate, child, or adolescent by presenting both evidence-based medicine and astute clinical experiences from leading international authors.

The promise that translational medicine will improve the lives of all children is greater than ever. Knowledge of human development, behavior, and diseases from the molecular to sociologic levels is increasing at fantastic rates. This has led to greater understanding of health and illness in children, as well as to substantial improvements in health quality for those who have access to health care. These exciting scientific advances also provide hope to effectively address new and emerging diseases threatening children and their families.

Unfortunately, many children throughout the world have not benefited from the significant advances in the prevention and treatment of health-related problems, primarily because of a lack of political will and misplaced priorities. In order for our increasing knowledge to benefit all children and youth, medical advances and good clinical practice must always be coupled with effective advocacy.

Our goal is to be comprehensive yet concise and reader friendly, embracing both the new advances in science as well as the time-honored art of pediatric practice.

تهیه و استفاده از این کتاب الکترونیک به کلیه پزشکان، پرستاران و دانشجویان رشته پرستاری و رشته های مختلف علوم پزشکی توصیه می گردد.

این کتاب در قالب یا فرمت Compiled HTML Help file – chm منتشر شده است. عبارت chm مخفف کلمات Compiled HTML می‌باشد. فایل chm فرمت ذخیره سازی فایهای کمکی آنلاین بوده و توسط ماکروسافت ابداع شده است. به زبان ساده تر روشی است برای ذخیره کردن توضیحات اضافی مورد نیاز کاربر. اخیراً برخی از جزوه‌ها و کتابهای الکترونیکی مورد نیاز دانشجویان در رشته‌های مختلف با این فرمت ارائه می گردد.
